A Guessing Game

So I was a bit dumb in the last post I made because I forgot to check what songs were actually going to be in Aurora's new album: "The Gods We Can Touch". After checking the song list I was a bit embarrassed but also inspired to try to actually guess the gods that correlate to certain gods. Here we go!

The first thing I did was double checked on Aurora's official website that the gods on this album are just Greek gods because I saw some speculation that some Nordic gods were included.

"The highly-anticipated album, The Gods We Can Touch from Aurora. It is an elegant and celestial but provocative album about shame, desire and morality, all seen through the narrative prism of Greek mythology. In each of the album's fifteen songs we meet a different god."

Then I had a better idea of what I was looking for and went straight into it!

---

1. The Forbidden Fruits of Eden  (Unreleased)

In Hades there is forbidden fruit: the pomegranate. Persephone is my guess for this one.

2. Everything Matters (Ft. Pomme)  (Unreleased)

Hera?? Idk.

3. Giving In to the Love

Eros??

4. Cure for Me

My first instinct here was Hephaestus. A misunderstood god who spent most days in his forge away from people. He had a birth defect that made it very difficult for him to walk. Instead of getting a godly cure of sorts, he built a contraption to help him get around. He didn't want a cure, he wanted accommodations. Can you tell I relate to this guy?

"I run from the liars, the fuel on the fire/I know I created myself" This line seems to support that theory.

On second thought, the symbols in the music video do not seem to be reminiscent of him at all.

I rewatched the music video and the masks and many faces reminded me a lot of Hecate (the goddess of Magick and witchcraft and stuff). No idea about the apples though.

5. You Keep Me Crawling (Unreleased)

Maybe Hades? He always got the short end of the bargain.

6. Exist for Love

The music video of this one makes me believe that this is the Aphrodite song out of all of the songs about love. There is pearl imagery and she sits in a shell, like the iconic painting of Venus.

7. Heathens (Unreleased)

Hecate? She's certainly pagan, but who in mythology isn't?

8. The Innocent (Unreleased)

MAN I have a whole list of guesses. It could be Astraea, Persephone, Hebe, Hestia. I think I'll go with Hestia because of her tendency to protect.

9. Exhale Inhale (Unreleased)

My guess is Atlas. He can't get out of his position. All he can do is inhale and exhale. I can't think of anything else for now.

10. A Temporary High (Unreleased)

First, I thought Dionysus, but I think a later song is for him. Then, I thought of Lethe. I'm not sure it's her because from what I remember, the effects of Lethe water are far from temporary. That's my best guess though so I'm sticking with Lethe. The water from the river of Lethe erases your memories and all truth of who you are. Probably a much-desired reprieve from someone painfully stuck inside themselves (a high of sorts).

11. A Dangerous Thing (Unreleased)

This one is so hard to figure out! What in Greek Mythology isn't dangerous? Prometheus is my best guess because he created human life and gave them fire resulting in his eternal punishment. He created something beautiful and gave them a gift even though he knew there would be consequences.

12. Artemis (Unreleased)

I'm gonna hope that this is an easy one and ay it's literally just Artemis.

13. Blood in the Wine (Unreleased)

I feel like this song is about Dionysus because he made wine out of his blood. His story of becoming a god is very sad so I feel like this song might be extra sad in its content.

14. This Could Be a Dream (Unreleased)

My guess for this one is Morpheus. God of dreams. Just a guess! I may be taking it too much at face value.

15. A Little Place Called the Moon (Unreleased)

Since Artemis was already one of the songs I'm gonna predict this song is Selene (the goddess of the moon before her). Maybe it will be a song about loss or about being forgotten.

Feel free to share your own theories in the comments! (hi mom or dad :D)
